Singles
Night at the Ohio Ballet
at The
Akron Civic Theater
A special
event in conjuction with the scheduled public Springfest performance.
Saturday, May 7th, performance
at 8 p.m.
This special event includes:
Discount group seating
arranged by Ohio Ballet ticket sales
Special reception for
all singles in the audience to be held in Civic Theater upstairs
reception room following the performance. Mingle and meet singles
from the audience and be greeted by members of several singles
organizations. Meeting room and cash bar provided by the Akron
Civic Theatre.
Opportunity to meet some
of the evening's performers and Ohio Ballet staff including Artistic
Director, Jeffrey Graham Hughes.
Optional dinner and conversation
before the performance. (Contact participating groups listed
below.)
You
may purchase your individual ticket and be seated with other participating
singles by calling Mike VanLieu at the Ohio Ballet at 330-972-7730.
You may also contact a participating singles group listed below.
Ticket
price for Singles Night participants is $15 (normal area 2 price
is $25)
If you are
buying your ticket individually and you are already a member of
a participating singles organization, please mention your organization
so Mr. VanLieu can better seat you with your particular group
members.
Deadline
for best group seating and special ticket pricing is April 29th.
Optional dinner out before
the performance. If you
would like to meet for dinner and conversation before the performance,
please contact the participating singles organizations below to
see what dinner outings are being offered.

Participating singles groups will be listed in a special
program insert which will invite all singles in the audience to
attend the reception following Saturday evening's performance.

The Performance
This is a Springfest performance with the following
dance pieces:
Peter and the Wolf
Choreographed by Victoria Morgan, music by Sergei Prokofiev
Ms. Morgan brings to life the story of a boy who becomes a hero.
This unique and modern day spin
on the classic tale takes place in a school-yard playground.
Hi-Jinks
Choreographed by Sam Watson, music by Martin Denny and Esquivel
The comedy returns! A light, refreshing ballet inspired by the
dance in TV variety shows of the 50's and 60's.
Le Grand Pas Classique
Staged by Cynthia Gregory, music by Daniel Francois Esprit Auber
This timeless French pas de deux was handed down to Ms. Gregory
by members of the Paris Opera.
The Mazurkas
Choreographed by Jose Limon, music by Fredric Chopin
This classic modern dance is a study of the rise and fall of movement,
Limon style.
